Research Overview
"Molecular Regulation of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Maintenance and Immune Cell Development"

Dr. Pereira seeks to understand how tissue microenvironments regulate hematopoietic stem cells and immune cell development throughout life. His laboratory combines genetics, imaging, and single-cell approaches to define how stromal cells, chemokine signaling, adhesion receptors, and metabolic pathways coordinate stem cell behavior and immune cell development in health and disease. These studies provide fundamental insights into blood formation and identify mechanisms that may be leveraged to improve regenerative therapies and treat hematologic disorders.
